Ive just seen a short video on the Fail that announces the following:
All regional players to be jointly contracted by a new body which is run by the WRU and regions.
No changes to regional independence and names
All monies to be paid into one pot from which players are paid.
The hope is that the overall playing budgets will be able to increase with such a move.
A good move or does this complicate the management of the regions further - who gets the final say on whether to sign that 30 year old All Black over a 18 year old Welsh hopeful?

Sounds like a turf war waiting to happen.

Surely has potential for that unless there are very clear guidelines. A bit surprising that there hasn't been a more obvious press release.

Re: Changes to Regional funding
Found this in the Fail side bar, it looks like this is still very much at the proposal stage so plenty could change. Potentially hints by the WRU that they are prepared to add more to the pot?
Time will tell I suppose.
