U20s

Post by Zhivago »

Seems the U20s also got a bonus point. Did anyone see this game and can say if any players look particularly promising for the future?

Coverage of the U20 is dismal.

I’m in the midlands and watched it live on BBC 2 Wales via a Sky dish. Great coverage and i also watched the women’s game live. What more do you want?

So were there any standouts?

I saw it no problem on the red button, and it's still on iplayer.
Lots of good performances: Rhys Carre continues to impress; Cai Evans, Corey Baldwin and Ryan Conbeer had a good game, to name but a few.

It was a very competent display by the U20s. They exerted pressure from the start especially in the scrum and never let the Scots get into the game except for a couple of short periods.

Our women’s hooker looked the real deal and a great leader and Wales, after dominating for the first sixty minutes, let the Scots back in. The good thing was Wales hung on for a one point victory.

Aye, Basham (sp?) and Davies did well at 7 & 8, Harri Morgan the Scrum Half is good, especially for his age, the 12 who's name escapes me has an excellent step.

Carre was the MOM without doubt tho, very mobile for a 20 stoner.

Enjoyed the match there were a few errors but generally it was a good match.
I thought Wales sparked a little more when Cai Evans went to 10 but the performance by Rhys Carre was top notch and Basham certainly was in the thick of things.

U20s against Ireland looked like it might have been a cracker.

Anyone see it?

Misfiring Wales crushed by Italian forwards. Hope it's the last time I see that this weekend....

It was hardly champagne stuff but you have to take your hat off to that Italian side. To control the game like they did, away from home, and end up looking comfortable, was some effort. In-your-face defence and precision at the breakdown, backed up by a bullish scrum and technically excellent maul. If ever you needed "something to build on" that team have surely proivided it.
