Tovey leaves Newport

for Edinburgh.

Bit of a shame, but I'm not surprised. Dorian Jones and Angus O'Brien are emerging and performing as well for the most part and Tovey wants to play fly half. I hope for his sake that the move is more successful than his brief sojourn to Cardiff.

Since his first big season I've really seen nothing that makes me think he's better than what he's shown since.

A waste of what could be a fine player down to his attitude?!?

It's just a loan though, isn't it? Admittedly not a sign that he has a long term future in Wales...

A bit unlucky to have been stuck at the Dragons. I guess we'll never know what he might have achieved in a better team.

When he broke onto the scene, he looked good enough for the international game. Then he move to Cardiff and didn't look he same player. I don't think that was necessarily an issue with Cardiff, I just think Newport suited him better. He has been a good club player for us, but younger players are ousting him so I don't blame him for moving on.

I'm not sure about the attitude element. He has always given his best for Newport, but I do recall him getting some Welsh squad training time, and then returning to his club quite quickly. For whatever reason, Gatland et al didn't think he was up to it.

Best of luck to him.
