Ospreys team to face Dragons

Post by davejames78 »

15 Dan Evans
14 Hanno Dirksen
13 Owen Watkin
12 Josh Matavesi
11 Eli Walker
10 Dan Biggar
9 Rhys Webb (Capt)

1 Nicky Smith
2 Scott Baldwin
3 Dmitri Arhip
4 Adam Beard
5 Rynier Bernardo
6 Olly Cracknell
7 Sam Underhill
8 James King

REPLACEMENTS
16 Scott Otten
17 Gareth Thomas
18 Aaron Jarvis
19 Dan Lydiate
20 Joe Bearman
21 Brendon Leonard
22 Sam Davies
23 Jeff Hassler

The following players were unavailable for selection due to injury:
Tyler Ardron - Knee
Lloyd Ashley – Knee
Dan Baker - Illness
Ashley Beck – Knee
Gareth Delve – Ankle
Matthew Dwyer – Ankle
JJ Engelbrecht – Ankle
Ma’afu Fia – Toe
Dafydd Howells – Hamstring
Paul James - Eye
Ben John - Concussion
Alun Wyn Jones - Foot
Daniel Suter – Knee

For the first time I can remember, Tandy picks 2 second rows in the second row. Good to see Adam Beard getting a start, he's looked good each time I've seen him.

I know right? Wanders back into the team, thinking he owns the place ;) ;)

On a serious note, that back row looks as dynamic as anything we could put out at the moment.

I see we've not got any second row cover on the bench though.

They're missing Ardron, especially with AWJ crocked. No suprise to see Delve on the injury list, if they have him on anything other than a pay as you play contract they are clueless.

Has Webb ever been captain before?

Good to see Dirksen back.

I've been quite impressed with Ollie Cracknell on the last couple of occasions that I've seen him.

The cupboard was looking a bit bare at 6 for Wales a year or so ago. But now with Moriarty too there seems to be a bit of competition for the future.

Agreed on Cracknell. He's looked really promising. Gives us more options for carrying too. When Ardron's back, our back row could be exceptional.

Yes but knowing Tandy, we'll see Lydiate, Tipuric and King!

Is Rory Thornton injured or has Beard surpassed him in the pecking order?

So. This game will go a fair way to deciding whether I can be arsed to spend upwards of £100 on petrol, train tickets, food and booze, to go to judgement day.

Only if Meeting up with a good bunch of mates.

Or if there's a shag in it.

I used to dislike Biggar because of his petulance, but was pleased when he seemed to have matured in to a very good player.

He's getting to be an irritating sod again though.

As to the game, from a Newport perspective, pretty depressing, and with our best player going, unlikely to improve next year.

He has the head of an English public school boy, complete with sticky out ears, on the body of a gym monkey.

The perennial problem of Welsh wingers, great in attack, dreadful in defence.

Sorry, I was thinking we applied the same criteria as Cardiff players.
