Falcons Vs Sale - Friday 7.45pm

Post by FKAS »

Newcastle Falcons Starting XV: 15 Elliott Obatoyinbo, 14 Adam Radwan, 13 Matias Moroni, 12 Tom Penny, 11 Mateo Carreras, 10 Brett Connon, 9 Michael Young (c); 1 Adam Brocklebank, 2 Jamie Blamire, 3 Trevor Davison, 4 Greg Peterson, 5 Sebastian de Chaves, 6 Gary Graham, 7 Callum Chick, 8 Carl Fearns.

Replacements: 16 Ollie Fletcher, 17 Logovi’i Mulipola, 18 Richard Palframan, 19 Matthew Dalton, 20 Tom Marshall, 21 Sam Stuart, 22 Tian Schoeman, 23 Zach Kerr.

Sale Sharks Starting XV: 15, Luke James, 14. Arron Reed, 13. Ryan Mills, 12. Sam Hill, 11. Tom O’Flaherty, 10. Robert du Preez, 9. Gus Warr; 1. Bevan Rodd, 2. Ewan Ashman, 3. Nic Schonert, 4. Cobus Wiese, 5. Jonny Hill, 6. Jono Ross, 7. Ben Curry (C), 8. Daniel du Preez

Replacements: 16. Akker van der Merwe, 17, Ross Harrison, 18. Joe Jones, 19. Josh Beaumont, 20. Jean-Luc du Preez, 21. Joe Simpson, 22. Tom Curtis, 23. Byron McGuigan

In the so called Battle of the North it looks like there'll be only one winner. Blamire Vs Ashman should be an interesting competition at hooker and the two backrows are entertainingly abrasive but the Sale tight five should really stop this being a competition.

Good to see Ryan Mills back playing.

Falcons remain a very underrated pack. Bullied Sale in the 2nd half after a dire first.

Didn't they just. Impressive win. The Falcons tenacity with that extra attacking freedom Walder has brought as the main man paying dividends. Having Moroni in midfield will always help as will Carreras's ability to score a try from nowhere, Dan du Preez is not going to like explaining his part in 10 of Falcons points in next week's debrief.

Blamire at hooker seemed to go well, I only saw the highlights but they contained a number of Falcons lineouts being thrown perfectly and him getting around the park to good effect.

Impressive win. Two of the bottom teams beating the two top teams as a good start to the weekend.

I am looking forward to seeing Blamire go. I think he's got the potential to really thrive with a good run of games.

Fingers crossed for Blamire. I think there's something there worth looking at. He's got the build and mobility. We're not blessed at hooker and he's got a chance to come back into international reckoning.
Timely win or Falcons.
