BT premiership legends xv

Post by Banquo »

Last 20 years I think.

Ayerza, Brits, Cole, Johnson, Itoje, Lawes, Back, Dallaglio

Care, Farrell, A Tuilagi, Barritt, Waters, Ashton, Murphy

Selected by Healy, Dayglo, Monye and Kay. Hmmmm- the debate contained some strange stuff.

I'd guess the only non-contentious bit would be the 2nd row.

I’ve just seen what Monye is wearing so I won’t put any weight on any choices he has made - sartorial, rugby or otherwise

Ayerza and the second row is pretty much set. Brits at hooker and Murphy at 15 are also solid picks.

That midfield is pretty stodgy.

Depends where the line is drawn. If it's just last 20 years, then there's an argument for no Wilkinson on account of all his injuries. If it's anything longer, then it's laughable not to have him there. Mind, if it's anything longer than 20 years, it's going to be dominated by the 2003 team.

They discussed wilko (and charlie and good) but concluded faz was better.

obvs some cut off for hill r not to feature.

The other contender at 13 was.....Leon Lloyd.

It was also a bit about longevity and prem achievement in fairness

I suppose there IS an argument that Farrell is a better club FH than JW was but anyone suggesting he is a better FH overall (and therefore an international one) must be heading for a permanent HIA.

I mean Leon Lloyd was a good solid centre but Mapasua, Tindall, Joseph just off the top of my head might have at least been discussed.

Nick Evans though he only won the one title was a brilliant addition to the league at flyhalf.

That strange selection must be based on player stats alone, probably based predominantly on league titles won with their club sides. A few boring plodders in there,
