Rhys Webb retires from international rugby

With 100 days to go to the start of the Rugby World Cup, Rhys Webb has decided to retire. After signing a contract at a new club one wonders if he got a better deal by agreeing to be available during the international windows? Or perhaps he just didnβt fancy international training camps and the time away from home?
A definite loss for our World Cup campaign, I think he would definitely have been part of the final squad. A world class player in his day itβs a shame to see him go but he is also going under his own terms and I can only wish him the best of luck for the future.

Maybe saw the writing on the wall in that he was on the outside looking in (and didn't fancy the training camp work coming up)

A pity, an excellent player, as good as anyone currently Welsh qualified.

I did have a thought, that his opportunity to get a better contract away from the Ospreys was to become unavailable for Welsh duty. I think a lot of French teams would want him as a player, but not to lose him in international windows, and whilst he could have waited until after RWC , it may have hampered getting it sorted , but it is purely supposition . Maybe Wales Online could ask around

.

That might require some investigative journalism from the Fail. The β10 hardest rugby players of all timeβ is more likely to be rehashed first.

Now that is very true , but since that always gets rehashed in the off season , we could be in with a chance...but.

maybe not .

I agree with the point your making , studious investigation is not the forte of many Fail ed reporters.
Although I thought the Allan Martin kicking video was good to see ( I did think Scottish No 8 Peter Brown had the most unique style )

So true to form , they did the "10 hardest rugby players of all time" and finally we get the Rhys Webb article.
