Who do we call up?
Plumtree doesn't look ready to me and he's not a natural 8 imo
I'm genuinely struggling to think of anyone

Re: Who do we call up?
It has to be Wainwright who steps up with Basham on the bench. After that I’ve no idea.

There a number of options in fairness but they will be at best a bit part player. They might decide to call up a third scrum half in case Davies breaks.

Owen Williams for Anscombe (if he's out).
For Faletau, no idea, probably make use of the slot for another position . . . Max Llewellyn or Keiran Williams in case Tompkins breaks.

The Fail's reporting Liam Williams is a doubt for the quarter final although reports that Gatland is " cautiously optimistic" after Williams left the stadium on crutches

Hadn’t realised that Liam was injured as well. Yesterday was an expensive win.
If Anscombe is any kind of risk then I’d call up Owen Williams. Even if he’s got a slight issue then is the Faletau slot. Provided scum
Halves are ok Owen gives us cover for multiple positions.

Good point, Owen Williams covers 12 so that's also useful since Johnny has not looked completely reliable.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 7:52 am Hadn’t realised that Liam was injured as well. Yesterday was an expensive win.

Re: Who do we call up?
Owen William's would be a good shout for 10/12 cover, as an outside bet possibly Cai Evans for 10/15 as he was in the pre-RWC squad too.
Might want to consider 9 cover as well. I thought costellow did ok yesterday, given the situation, but looked understandably nervy on times. Asking him to play scrum half might be a stretch if GD/TW get injured.

With our luck we'll soon need Costelow to play 9 and 10 simultaneously.pompey-zebra wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 9:23 am Owen William's would be a good shout for 10/12 cover, as an outside bet possibly Cai Evans for 10/15 as he was in the pre-RWC squad too.

Probably only LRZ is fast enough to pass from the base of the scrum and run back to catch it at 10!Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 9:28 amWith our luck we'll soon need Costelow to play 9 and 10 simultaneously.pompey-zebra wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 9:23 am Owen William's would be a good shout for 10/12 cover, as an outside bet possibly Cai Evans for 10/15 as he was in the pre-RWC squad too.

Benefit hugely from this experience and will, I think, be our first choice fly half shortly. But right now there’s a huge difference in composure between him and Anscombe/Biggar. If Anscombe is a doubt then Owen Williams would be on my call up list.
We could consider Hardy possibly but I don’t think he’s good enough, although he would be better than a makeshift Costelow in a big game.

Great.
Hopefully it’s just an insurance policy.

Re: Who do we call up?
It probably is, Davies starting with Williams coming on has proved effective, so no reason to changes that unless they have to. In the Fail it talks about easing the pressure on the two 9's, which is fair as by necessity they've played every game, and Davies had niggles in the build up to the Georgia game.
