Superbru Fantasy Rugby Game 2023/24

Post by switchskier »

I've enjoyed doing fantasy rugby during the RWC so am going to play thevSuperbru game for the English Prem. I've set up a mini-league here for any forum members:

https://www.superbru.com/premiershiprug ... p=12707634

or by downloading the Superbru app and searching for the pool with code:

gnawpest

It's pretty similar to the old Rugby Magazine game. You pick a squad of 23, and a match day 15 from those 23. You get four transfers a week but are limited by budget.

Points are awarded for playing and scoring, but also for tackles, line breaks and line outs won. But players can lose points for cards and missed tackles.

League starts tomorrow. Hope we can get 5 or 6 players at least.

We have 8 players so far but there's still four and a half hours to drop a team in. Surprisingly easy to get under budget in this game.

I'm in. I don't like it at all - everything compares poorly to the Rugby Magazine one, from the pricing, to the points system, to the user interface - but I'll give it a go.

Does anyone know if the prices fluctuate in this game?

Agree on all points and ooh that's a good question. I certainly hope so.

I'm in but it's an unfriendly interface.

Pretty happy with being 3rd in our pool after the first week. I'm still struggling to adapt to the scoring on this new game - A 19 point haul getting double for captain would've been decidedly below average on TRM, but it appears to be a decent score here. Happy to be respectable, considering I picked a few players on the basis that Exeter would get battered by Saracens and that... didn't so much happen.

Switch still being near the top suggests there's transferrable skills between the games though!

I did the same - Lewington being an awful value pick for me. Randall was gash too.

I managed to select two out of three of the team of the week back rowers with Liebenberg and Mercer, and Freeman as capt did alright.

Got one definite transfer to make, as I don't see Dingwall being fit this week, and probably some more for the sake of tinkering.

I don’t like the subs only scoring if the starting player drops out. Might as well just pick a 15 like the RWC game.

I didn’t have time to do my team properly last week and made a couple of blind picks at prop which gave me a 0 score for one player.

I felt quite smug about my back three but OHC and Green both had stinkers and contributed a whole 4.5 points between them.

Captaining McFarland expecting Sarries to actually be good was also an error.

Both Heyes and Rapava-Ruskin have managed to achieve 0 points despite being named as starters. Marvellous.

I think I’ve lost my touch when it comes to fantasy rugby. Had a better week so far this round though.

Heyes pulled out having failed a fitness test this afternoon. Dunno about VRR.

Obviously too late in the day for the auto sub feature to kick in!

Autosubs happen after the weekend's points are finalised, I believe.

Chapeau Puja. That was a mighty week.

This round was the shot in the arm I needed, but felt more like a happy accident.

Got lucky with my transfer choices - brought in David, Earl, Coles, and George, who all had fearsome games.

Made my first real clanger this week - Arron Reed as captain for a mighty -2 points.

Gives the rest of us hope, though I'm firmly in catch up mode after missing the deadline for week 3.

Disappointed that Quin's scored 33 but Dombrant only got 6.5 points.

Seeing as this is the second week in a row I've forgotten to sort my team out you'll still up scoring a lot more than me.

Swapping Liebenberg out for Reffell this week was a solid choice. Needed it though with Warr and Atkinson only managing 0.5 and 0 for Collier who must have been a late withdrawal for Quins. Captaining Coles doomed him to get injured too.

I've got too much money tied up in fly half. Should I sell Smith or Russell in order to strengthen elsewhere?

Had my best week so far, Gonzalez as skipper was a very good choice but I still don’t feel like I’ve totally got the hang of this game.

Very much the same, and I'm top of the league right now!
