England @WXV
Just turned England v USA on. 14-0 after 18 minutes, so clearly not a disastrous start.

Looking forward to the game tonight. I expect the ferns want to make a statement after losing to the Michaelas/Patricias.

At least in many countries, it's on rugbypass. Presumably not in the UK if the beeb have it.

Good start, black ferns. Thought the pen seemed quite harsh but so it goes.

Another good battle here between these two teams. Exhausting pace. England score again with Breach.

Hell of a comeback from England. New Zealand were on fire the first few minutes and we absolutely could not live with them, but the Dow try (caused by Breach hunting down the Kiwi 10 and turning over the counterattack) seemed to knock the wind out of them.

Some of the kiwi lasses possibly regretting the pace of their start.
Stream returns with NZ attacking but errors getting into their game.

Ooh yes, can we get Hunt to play 9 for the men's team when she's not on red roses duty?

Glad the kiwi 9 had been warned about slow play, very long 5 seconds being allowed.

They've made Heard clear up a lot of rubbish, a lot of grunt work while the back three are having fun.

Good performance, some stuff to work on but to be slightly sad not to have got the 50 is a good place to be.

That was fun to watch. The chemistry between Dow, Breach and Kildunne is insane, they're almost telepathic

Just caught up with this. Cracking last game and England lucky in some ways to win. If Canada had a functioning lineout I think they would have been too much. The Canucks were so good at killing England momentum and England didn't really know what to do. England's backs had their worst game in a long while - a real cone down after their heroics v NZ.

Much more of a test than that from the Black Ferns. Far too many mistakes from both teams, but a lot of that from the defensive pressure. For those questioning the selection of Aitchison, she made at least 3 try-saving tackles and ran the back line calmly under difficult conditions. I suspect Aldcroft got the PoTM award for her try at the end, but Matthews was once again my choice.
Great entertainment!

Re: England @WXV
Aitcheson stood up in D much better this time, so fair play. She probably should take some criticism for some of the poor choices and execution in the backline though. I felt England made some foolish choices when faced with a Canada team that was up for it and had done their homework. Still, it was successful in the end.Mush wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:20 pm Much more of a test than that from the Black Ferns.
