Where've I been? Chez moi and not watching Ireland or whoever yer man Earls plays for - the team probably ends with ..ster. Right? Your team is loaded with talented players, but for me, that wee fecker on the wing and Henderson stood out. It's probably going to come down to the last game, unless England slip up in Pareee where your boys almost did!SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Feck sake Frankie, where have ye been? Fair enough Belleau missed a sitter, but so did Sexton so they even out on that score.

It's an interesting one, Ireland had a reasonable case they should have been playing vs 14, though given it's an injury that's a tough case to advance or at least very different to a close red card call, whereas France may observe we were told players talking back wasn't going to be tolerated and yet Sexton and Co had plenty of chat which had Owens pinged them for they'd only have themselves to blame.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Had we lost I think I might have latched on to the HIA thing and perhaps thought more of it than I do.

It was all balanced up by Nigel letting their neanderthal No.5 get away with blue murder at the ruck all day.Digby wrote:It's an interesting one, Ireland had a reasonable case they should have been playing vs 14, though given it's an injury that's a tough case to advance or at least very different to a close red card call, whereas France may observe we were told players talking back wasn't going to be tolerated and yet Sexton and Co had plenty of chat which had Owens pinged them for they'd only have themselves to blame.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Had we lost I think I might have latched on to the HIA thing and perhaps thought more of it than I do.

I don't remember that being brought up when making it clear players would be dealt with for backchat, that if they felt wronged it was okay to balance that out by letting the backchat go. Also Vahaamahina got pinged for quite a pensSpiffy wrote:It was all balanced up by Nigel letting their neanderthal No.5 get away with blue murder at the ruck all day.Digby wrote:It's an interesting one, Ireland had a reasonable case they should have been playing vs 14, though given it's an injury that's a tough case to advance or at least very different to a close red card call, whereas France may observe we were told players talking back wasn't going to be tolerated and yet Sexton and Co had plenty of chat which had Owens pinged them for they'd only have themselves to blame.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Had we lost I think I might have latched on to the HIA thing and perhaps thought more of it than I do.

Re: Very soon
Strange, I felt, that a single player could give away 5 penalties and not even warrant a warning from the referee. But on balance, they were all pretty innocuous and the reward was sufficient under the circumstances.
Digby makes the very pertinent point about numbers and had Machenaud not been allowed to return to the field France would have had to play that last few minutes a man down through no fault of their own. This can hardly have been the outcome that anyone would have wanted to see and might even have taken a considerable few layers of gloss off the win. Reinforces my point that the laws should be changed to allow, front row forwards aside, any uninjured player in the 23 to replace any injured player.
I am not particularly fond of this fixture as it forces me to yell for the side that is playing against France. Over for another year and now I can give true vent to cheering on Les Bleus in the remaining 4 rounds.

Only Sexton I thought, and even then only after Best had retired and Sexton had become captain. Perhaps it is the way he spoke that caught your attention. I suspect he struggled to change tack from the way he gets on to his team mates. He is a tad exciteable and I'm not sure why he was given the role with POM still on the pitch.Digby wrote:... Its like finding your shares portfolio has done particularly well, but then learning that this is because of investments in Israel.

Serj, I'll imagine you in front of the tv, sinking yet another pastis/Pineau de Charentes/Floc de Gascogne or whatever your preferred poison is, wearing your blue beret and screaming ALLEZ LES BLEUS when they're 30 points adrift of England with 5 minutes to go!!SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Its like finding your shares portfolio has done particularly well, but then learning that this is because of investments in Israel.

You bet reward was enough, you won the game without even once going through the line of defense...

Stop whining about Machenaud, the independent medic made the decision about Dupont, and that's it.

I see Guscott is making a prick out of himself about the Sexon drop goal. Moments of brilliance like that only mean something if you win a championship apparently...never mind the fact it won Ireland the match, in Paris.
Also saw on the comments on the Beeb article that some are suggesting the drop goal was a punt as it didn't hit the ground. I can't find anywhere that supports that claim. From the angle I saw it, it looked like a legit kick.

I wonder if Guscott has in mind his winning kick in a Lions series, it'd be unusual for Jerry to talk about himself, but just maybe he did this once try to make it about him

No whining from me cock-breath. I think that Macheneaud should have been allowed to return to the field of play, since it was the match doctor who made the call. And if you read my posts, you will see that I believe that the laws should be changed to allow any uninjured player to return to the field to replace any injured player (Front row aside) regardless of the nature of the injury.tigran wrote:

Always more satisfying to get the better of a full strength team that to allow their support room to excuse a narrow loss.
