With Wade and Gopperth it looks like JP is happy for Wasps to decide if they've been tackled or not.

Hang on. Ross charges in with his head and collides with Cooper-Wooley but its not even a penalty?

Having pinged Curry for going beyond the ruck how has he not seen Le Roux's effort there?

He's let Haskell kill 30 seconds by ignoring him and not coming to get his yellow card.
JP bottles the penalty try. Dimes understandably furious.

Cheap shot that lays out Bassett goes unchecked and Wasps contrive to shoot themselves in the foot

Surely there's no argument that De Klerk has to come off for a HIA?

The clock was off, so no time wasted.16th man wrote:He's let Haskell kill 30 seconds by ignoring him and not coming to get his yellow card.

He had just about enough reason to bottle it, but bottle it he did. I don't think for the penalty try, but for then idea of carding 2 players in one incident.

Not a great impression as a couple of the Wasps players appear to be arguing the game should be over whilst their fly half is being put on back boards.

It didn't stop until he gave the card.Which Tyler wrote:The clock was off, so no time wasted.16th man wrote:He's let Haskell kill 30 seconds by ignoring him and not coming to get his yellow card.

Nicely done. Very cool in the circumstances.

Great game!!!
Both sides gave it everything, physical yet plenty of skill on show. Really warming to Sale.

Don't understand why Healey was getting his knickers in a twist over Gops "being in front of the posts" when the ball wasn't even on the line. Entertaining match, score never in doubt once Wasps strolled to an early lead. There was no way we wouldn't find a way to fekk that up. Ross caught the eye, as did Strauss. Little Faf's a gudun, Sale wanna hang on to him.

Re: Sale v Wasps Fri 7.45
Because the base of the post counts as the tryline and when you're defending on your own line, you have to be behind the tryline. Ergo, if Gopperth (and Haskell before him) are standing in front of the post, then they are standing in an offside position and making a tackle. If they weren't there, then Sale would've been able to ground the ball at the foot of the post, which would've been a try.Beasties wrote:Don't understand why Healey was getting his knickers in a twist over Gops "being in front of the posts" when the ball wasn't even on the line. All's well that ends well, but JP Doyle bottled it completely. It should've been two yellow cards and a penalty try. It would've been big, but both Haskell and Gopperth prevented tries from being scored with cynical play and one of them being yellowed should've been no bar to the other going.
Mind, I suspect the citing committee will hear more about that Sale headbutt, so everyone could feel a touch aggrieved.

Great entertainment for the neutral. Wasps have let last 2 games slip when in winning positions, but credit Sale with coming back initially from 0-17 down and then to win the game on the final play.
In a game not exactly short of very good back row forwards, Ross was quite outstanding. if he's EQ he really should be on Eddie's radar.
That collision involving the SHs and Cips was a bad sight. Hopefully Cips is OK.

I'm utterly bemused by how the medical staff on hand watched that happen and didn't decide that De Klerk needed a HIA. He may have felt fine, but the force of the collision is pretty clear from the outcome.fivepointer wrote:Great entertainment for the neutral. Re: Sale v Wasps Fri 7.45
I thought Sale went beyond being a bit physical. Haley taking out Bassett in the phases that led to Haskell’s yellow and the inevitable try; Bassett looked knocked out and it looked a deliberate hit to the head. Arguably, that’s a red.
One ruck in the second half, Ross led by the head into JCW and the TMO says it’s fine?!? Bizarre officiating and I thought wasps can feel hard done by

The Ross into JCW one was bizarre, was sure that would be a pen.

Wins for Newcastle, Leicester and Glos (unlikely as that is) this weekend and it’s squeaky bum time for Wasps.

Yes, a great game. Was Johnson injured? Wasps badly missed him or Hughes to offer bulk in the backrow. For all that those three starters have (and I rate them all) Sale bullied them - effectively and legitimately. Sometimes size does matter and with Launchbury doing most of the 2nd row grunt on his own (don't rate Myall at all), Wasps were lightweight. Drooling over turnovers and groundhog work is all very well but few packs survive being out-muscled, IMO. Credit to Sale for exploiting it. In the end, it won them the match.fivepointer wrote:Great entertainment for the neutral.
