France ominous in how effortlessly they've reeled England in. Need to steady the ship.

Re: Eng U20s 2023
The winger put the ball in (rather straight) at a scrum do I assumed Bracken was off.
England getting under France's skin. Now all we need is the Canada 1995 team to come windmilling in.

Handbags, but also a couple of times going in on the player on his back.
No punches or kicks I can see, but... Unnecessary

Re: Eng U20s 2023
I think that was just a specific play.is it my imagination? Or has Harris been playing FH more than Johnson?
Maybe it's the bottle blond, but he seems to be turning up at first receiver a lot, taking all the kicks from hand, and primary recipient of knock-offs

I reckon a 2 on 1 to drive a guy over the touchline then through a hoarding is probably pushing the definition of handbags a bit.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 6:48 pm Handbags, but also a couple of times going in on the player on his back.

Lovely line out move for the try before half time.

It really did look like it live, didn't it?Which Tyler wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 6:18 pm Thought he'd grounded that on the line until the reverse angle
I think it was an attempt at doing something clever by having Bracken free to create instant ball if we swept the ball to the far wing. Nearly backfired because Cleaves put the ball in straight and we nearly screwed up the hook, and then turned out to be moot as we won the scrum penalty.
Incredible performance by our lads so far. Night and day from the very average stuff served up in the pool stages.

It was a bit of a wrestle that looked worse than it was because they dropped him through a cardboard advertising board. Penalty at worst IMO.16th man wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 6:52 pmI reckon a 2 on 1 to drive a guy over the touchline then through a hoarding is probably pushing the definition of handbags a bit.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 6:48 pm Handbags, but also a couple of times going in on the player on his back.

Yeah, that's Jonny Hill levels of unforced idiocy off the kick off.

Re: Eng U20s 2023
England have been playing really well but France look really dangerous if given the chance to get some momentum. We were very lucky that their forward shat the bed and dropped it over the line when some patience would have seen an almost inevitable try. Some really poor kicking from us where it's just to easy for France to counter, we've got to get up quicker. Juneau is class at 9 as seen by the way he cut us apart for France's first try.
English scrum is a huge improvement, great work there.

I was about to make a sarcastic remark about "a referee actually giving an in front of the kick-off?!!" before seeing the replay and realising that the French 8 made it incredibly difficult for him not to. That was incredible.

Re: Eng U20s 2023
For me, pushing and shoving, and actually making ground, is still handbags, even if it does end up around a tripping hazard.
Continuing to have a go at this once he's Supine is more worrisome, but still not aggravating beyond a penalty.
The closest I noticed to actual violence was Blue12 yanking Harris back by his collar.

Re: Eng U20s 2023
Our scrum has been utterly incredible against a massive French pack, but I'm a little bit worried about CCS's technique at the back. He's disengaging and changing to another channel which, if the ball is at his feet, counts as the end of the scrum and, if the ball is not at his feet, means he's broken early from the scrum. And he's lifting his shoulders and taking forever to pick up the ball.
The referee is enabling him, even sending the French 9 back once when he's tried having a look, but according to the laws, the scrum is over the minute he isn't fully bound with both arms.

50p to world rugby as well.
My stream died with England kicking to the corner, revives with France just scoring. What happened? I smell a fix....

Same. And now we get tired and lazy in defence after a bit of kick tennis and France score another. I suspect that'll be the end of the debate, although we have to be very proud of how well we've done in this game, no matter what the final score ends up being.

The French have played the last 5 minutes of the yellow card brilliantly.

Re: Eng U20s 2023
Yup, France have felt the better at rugby throughout, but England doing enough to take advantage of French lapses in discipline.
We're not close to being good enough in defence though.
Either way, a huge step up from the 6N

Couldn't have been a more obvious slapping of the jumpers arm's there. Really wonder what the ref and touch judge are looking at?

"Don't kick it" kicks it, no whistle.
Then they just smash us up and slice us open again.
