How does ranking affect teams in the 6 Nations? Does the second team get more funds than the 5th? I don't understand the need for a point system.

Which really seems to only say because we've never admitted Romania or Georgia to the top table it doesn't so much matter continually screwing them over, but it would be unfair to screw over a team who have been to the top table and received their due.whatisthejava wrote:Problem with relegation is friends have long standing relationships and to be honest even a lackluster Italy could walk the 6N B.
Any team apart from France or Ireland would be utterly screwed unless they got a parachute payment of millions.
On the money, well I've no issue with there being a much fairer distribution of funds in the game than we see now regardless of whether the 6N opens up. I'd also favour a much fairer fixture calendar than we presently see.

If you can let me know why its ok for clubs to give fuck all for other clubs development or the country they are based in development, then you can also tell me why the SRU, IRFU, Italian RFU, WRU should potentially sign something that will decimate 100+ years of solid competition and history so 2 countries that will never win the European championship within my kids lifetime can play some meaningful rugby.
The rugby calendar is screwed but the big English and French clubs won't allow 1 more week of international rugby without getting paid,
The only answer that is sensible and won't potentially destroy rugby in an established country is for a European championship every 4 years the same year as the Lions play,
then you will have a strong France, strong Scotland, and a reasonable England, Wales and Ireland and Italy competing.
That for me is the only way to grow rugby until we have a global calendar

I think we all get naked self-interest governs the actions of many clubs and unions if not all. I'm just not sold that's what the wider game should represent.

No and if the sport was still amateur I would have a different POV but we live in a world of professional sports and quite simply its screw the next guy, I would be really disappointed in any of the Celtic unions if they voted for this but they won't and England an France can't push this through because each of the 6 unions have an equal sayDigby wrote:I think we all get naked self-interest governs the actions of many clubs and unions if not all. even if you could convince the Irish there is no way Scotland, Italy and Wales would do it, and even if they did the unions AGM's would throw it out
Will never happen and the people craving it are English as they are the only ones strong enough not to finish bottom historically

I'd prefer England to walk away from the 6N to start an open event with others could join if they wanted, if it'll never happen that the 6N opens up that is, and to hell with the money. But that really will never happen.
Though England aren't the only ones who want this, which I know from pretty much dealing with people in Romanian rugby on a daily basis, and I can't imagine Georgia thinks differently.
Kudos though to the SRU for actually having a match with Georgia, hopefully we see more 6N teams doing similar more often.

That's... actually a really good idea, convince France to not select from their finalists, and it's a pretty level playing field from the 6N countries, and something to shoot at for Georgia / Romaniawhatisthejava wrote:The only answer that is sensible and won't potentially destroy rugby in an established country is for a European championship every 4 years the same year as the Lions play,
