My apologies. Tennis is one of my minor sports,.....it's after Squash.Which Tyler wrote:I imagine it's been pretty common knowledge recently; with Rog becoming the 7th, then Rafa, then Novak...kk67 wrote:The ITV 4 team covering the French Open are, in my opinion, the best set of pundits on terrestrial tv.
It's been the same team for about 5/6 yrs now.....despite Inverdale, they are proper quality.
Fascinating stat from Jim Courier........Andy Murray is only the 10th player to have made the final of every grand slam event.
Obv'.....Jim also managed it.

Not up there with the Lance Armstrong fiasco I know , but how often do we hear that the athlete/sportsperson was completely unaware that the ' drug ' was banned . I presume that they are also unaware that this particular drug was performance enhancing .
Not a big Tennis fan but I do enjoy watching her play whatever her name is .

Most people don't say "I didn't know it was banned" because it isn't a defence.Discreet Hooker wrote:Not up there with the Lance Armstrong fiasco I know , but how often do we hear that the athlete/sportsperson was completely unaware that the ' drug ' was banned . I think she should have said it was a remedy from the old country .Eugene Wrayburn wrote:Most people don't say "I didn't know it was banned" because it isn't a defence.Discreet Hooker wrote:Not up there with the Lance Armstrong fiasco I know , but how often do we hear that the athlete/sportsperson was completely unaware that the ' drug ' was banned . Re: Sharapova
Looks like she's back . . .
Maria Sharapova was back in black: in a lace-topped, sparkling diamante outfit that nodded to Audrey Hepburn’s dress in Breakfast At Tiffany’s, one of the Russian’s favourite films. And there was just enough substance alongside the showbiz dazzle on her return to New York for the game’s enduring diva to overpower Simona Halep, the world No2, for the seventh time in a row, as she moved into the second round to keep this US Open at fever pitch.
Her 10th match in 19 months – for reasons obvious to all but aliens – delivered much of the old imperious strut over the two hours and 24 minutes it took her to complete a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win. It was a performance that mixed brilliance and vulnerability in front of a goggle-eyed gathering on the tournament’s showcase court, Arthur Ashe. In 18 night matches in New York, Sharapova has never lost. She loves a big stage.

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?
